Humans of Duke Sanford

“I grew up in Toledo. My grandparents were huge Duke fans. I walked on the football team here. Yeah, I played in high school, was a linebacker. I got hurt last year, a back injury, so since then I’ve been an undergraduate assistant coach. And we had a guy go in the first round [of the NFL draft] last night. That shows how far the program has come. What am I struggling with? Not much, life’s great. I have a job…. These are my final few hours. I’ve got a final [in Macroeconomics] in a few hours, I finish a paper tomorrow, and then I’m off to graduation. It’ll be hard to leave my friends, the guys on the team, we’re like family. Every major holiday since I’ve been here I’ve spent with my teammates. I was stressed up until a couple of weeks ago until I got my job [consulting for Liberty Mutual], but I got it.” - Chris Hoover, PPS’15
