"We often view economic sustainability and environmental sustainability as separate. However, we cannot achieve long-term economic sustainability without environmental sustainability. During my summer internship researching gaps in climate finance at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), I researched which countries have the widest climate finance gaps, so that the IFC could plan for climate financing accordingly. However, I realized the IFC’s intent is futile if we continue to finance projects that impact the environment negatively. All projects today need to be environmentally viable. Given the rate at which we are going, if projects are not environmentally viable, they will certainly not be economically viable 20 years from now when we have an environment that is hostile to any sort of economic activity." - Monisha Eadala, Master of International Development Policy Candidate
